{"id":127,"date":"2009-08-06T14:17:21","date_gmt":"2009-08-06T22:17:21","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.spice-guy.com\/kitchen\/?p=127"},"modified":"2009-08-06T14:18:59","modified_gmt":"2009-08-06T22:18:59","slug":"beer-beef-stew","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.spice-guy.com\/kitchen\/beer-beef-stew\/","title":{"rendered":"beer beef stew"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Slow cooker beef stew with a twist of beer, chili sauce, and brown sugar.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Ingredients:<br \/>\n<\/strong>1 tablespoon vegetable oil<br \/>\n1-3\/4 pounds beef stew meat,<br \/>\ncut into 1 1\/2 inch pieces<br \/>\n1\/2 cup all-purpose flour<br \/>\n1 large potato, chopped<br \/>\n1\/2 cup chopped carrots<br \/>\n1\/4 cup (rounded) chopped celery<br \/>\n1\/4 cup (rounded) chopped onion<br \/>\n1 or 2 cloves garlic, chopped<br \/>\n1-1\/2 teaspoons dried basil<br \/>\n1-1\/2 teaspoons dried thyme<br \/>\n1\/2 cup chili sauce<br \/>\n1\/2 cup beer<br \/>\n2 tablespoons brown sugar<\/p>\n<p><strong>Directions:<br \/>\n<\/strong>Heat the oil in a skillet over medium heat.<br \/>\nPlace the beef stew meat and flour in a large resealable plastic bag, and shake to coat.<br \/>\nTransfer coated meat to the skillet, and cook a minute or two until browned.<br \/>\nMix the potatoes, carrots, celery, onion, and garlic in a slow cooker.<br \/>\nPlace browned beef over the vegetables, and season with basil and thyme.<br \/>\nIn a bowl, mix the chili sauce, beer, and brown sugar, and pour over meat in the slow cooker.<br \/>\nCover slow cooker, and cook 8 hours on Low or 2 hours on High.<br \/>\nServe with crusty bread and cold beer of course.<br \/>\n6 servings.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Slow cooker beef stew with a twist of beer, chili sauce, and brown sugar.
